When choosing a decorator, cheapest is not always best in the long run, as many people have found out to their cost. It pays to find a reputable firm who will give you an agreed price for the work to be done.
Questions customers should ask…
- Is the decorator adequately insured?
- Is the quality of the materials guaranteed?
- Will the work be done by a competent tradesman?
- Can I be sure the quotation is fair to all parties in order to ensure a professional job?
- Will the decorator guarantee the work?
- Will the decorator be reliable and honest, clean and tidy?
It’s easy to be taken for a ride by cowboys. It pays to find a qualified professional to do your painting and decorating, to your total satisfaction.

FREE, No Obligation Estimates…
The best way is to get 2 or 3 estimates from similar kinds of traders, remembering a large company will obviously charge more because of their overheads than a sole trader, so price comparisons between the two would be unfair. Going for the cheapest is sometimes risky. A reputable company or a genuine tradesman will not ask for money in advance, even to cover the price of materials. Oppositely, for home decorating you may want to do it yourself, which may take up to 10 times longer than getting a professional decorator to do it.
It goes without saying, to achieve the best results you should always use the best materials and paints, whether it’s fillers, paints or wallpaper. Any professional decorator will also tell you the key to any good job is in the preparation, if you are doing it yourself remember to prepare properly before you apply any paint or wallpaper, it will be worth it in the long run.
